When designing a residential building, entrances, mailboxes, bicycle storage, waste facilities and plant rooms naturally have their place. The daily flow of parcels is much less often designed as an integral part of the building.
The impact usually only becomes apparent after handover. Delivery drivers look for a suitable place to leave the parcel, packages end up in communal areas or with neighbours, and residents depend on when a delivery driver arrives at the door.
Including parcel receipt in the design from the outset prevents the need to find a solution and suitable space later within an existing building.

The best location is not automatically the place where there happens to be a free wall available. Parcel logistics creates movement in and around the building every day. Delivery drivers must be able to find and access the facility easily, while residents should be able to collect their parcel at a logical point on their route through the building.
