A carrier-independent parcel locker is not linked to one specific parcel carrier. Different delivery services can use the same locker to deliver parcels to residents of the building.
That is precisely the principle behind the CiPiObox. The locker serves as a central delivery point for the residential building, regardless of which carrier delivers the parcel. Residents simply place their orders using their own home address. There is no need for a separate delivery address, an account with a specific carrier or the option to have it delivered to a collection point.

Carrier-independent operation means that the CiPiObox cannot rely on a carrier’s customer or user administration. The link to the resident is therefore made within the CiPiO system.
When a delivery driver scans the parcel, the system uses the available parcel information to match the addressee to a registered resident of the building. After a successful delivery, the transaction is recorded and the resident automatically receives a message with a unique collection code.
